springboards for compositions.
2. Present selected,
appropriate outlined information developed for the Proverb Application Writing
assignment.
3. Value clarification
strategies work well in connection with book reports and/or discussion. See
files for teaching suggestions pertaining to English.
4. TESA practices,
materials and correlated research are directly applicable to literature
discussion and classroom management techniques for motivating reluctant
learners. See also SELF ESTEEM outline materials. [To be developed from
material in hand.]
5. Teach students specific
procedures for making wise decisions. See Selection 1278, "How to make
wise decisions," which may be used as a springboard to further develop
this theme.
6. See the extensive
outline on career related goals in goals and objectives notebook.
7. Teach specific
information to students as present and future parents about "How to Raise
Your Child's I. Q." and similar home strategies to help them better
prepare their children for success in school to stem the tide of illiteracy.
8. Composition assignments to assist students
in thinking through short and long term
goals, future plans, after high school plans, may be given. See Selections 1523, Career
Interest Composition; 1282, Career Interest Composition; 1519, My After High School Plans; 1411,

Proverbs and Quotations.

4. Attendance credit awarded for each week
of perfect attendance (100 points).
5. Listening
tests (short answer and discussion) as appropriate over concepts and procedures
and outlines presented and discussed in class.
6. Evaluation
of assigned related compositions. Those compositions most crucial to monitoring
student success and establishing student short and long term goals should be
carefully written, prepared in duplicate, so that a careful corrected copy may
be kept by the teacher, and another copy kept by the student in the English
Notebook.
