Many students who use The Language Enrichment Program learn so well that they catch up to their proper grade level in reading, and some students achieve at a level as many years ahead of grade level as they were once behind. On average, students gain two years in reading comprehension grade level by working this program. Some students gain much more, a few less. Those who gain less can gain more by working the program over again at a later time.

Students learn so much about the English language as they use The Language Enrichment Program that they will know more about language structure and English grammar than most educated adults do, and may know some things that even their teachers haven’t learned. How to Use It

The Language Enrichment Program is simple to use. It is self instructional, meaning that your student can use the program with little or no help. Simply start at the beginning, and answer each of the reading steps in order. Students write all answers on their own paper, so the program can be re-used with other family members.

The program is divided into twenty-five chapters with a total of seventy-nine short exercises each including numbered reading steps. This plastic spiral bound loose leaf size sturdy cover book is 290 pages long, with 260 pages of lesson material, 20 pages of answer keys and explanations, with six pages of introductory material including table of contents.

The program takes from 24 to 75 actual clock hours to completely finish. The variation in time reflects the fact that some students work faster than others. How long they take has no bearing on the outcome: slower working students learn just as much as the faster students do, and all improve in reading comprehension. Students should spend no less than fifteen minutes for a learning session. Motivated students can work for as long as they wish. Younger students may need to work in shorter segments, though even they may be motivated to work a chapter at a time. Some students may tire after working the program for an hour, but many other students want to work longer. Students progress at their own speed, and should absolutely not be held back. The program may be used daily, or just a few times a week. Of course, the more regularly and often the program is used, the sooner the student will experience its benefit. Within reason, missing work on the program for a few days now and then has no negative effect upon achievement gains. Students can easily start up right where they left off.

A very few students are unmotivated and resist help. The achievement outcomes produced by The Language Enrichment Program are not affected by student attitude. If students work the material, the results are automatic. The material is purposely presented in short exercises to overcome the resistance that reluctant or discouraged learners bring to the learning environment. The Language Enrichment Program is an especially successful teaching tool which reaches such students. Students find that learning is painless when they use The Language Enrichment Program and are soon motivated to excel.

The Language Enrichment Program has been carefully designed and tested by the program developer during more than three decades of classroom research and development. Besides this long and successful use in the classroom, the developer used The Language Enrichment Program in home settings to tutor needy students, to home school his two sons, in community settings, and with students learning English as their second language. The program is absolutely known to work. It does exactly what the developer claims it does.

Although The Language Enrichment Program is especially successful with students that are below grade level in their reading comprehension, it is not a remedial reading program.
