Family Literacy Changes & Needs
Over nearly four decades of my teaching career I have
noticed that the greatest changes in student achievement can be attributed to
the difference in how well the home prepares its children for school. Family
literacy is the key to student achievement. Family literacy is related to parent
literacy. Highly literate parents raise highly literate children. Family use of
The Language Enrichment Program can raise family literacy or break the
cycle of family illiteracy.

selections, arranged in twenty-five chapters. It can be completed in twenty-four
to seventy-five clock hours, and requires no assistance from a teacher or tutor.
